Hold onto your handbags, shoppers

Hold onto your handbags, shoppers

I’ll admit, I love a good shop. And even more, a good bargain. If you’re like me, then of course you look forward to Black Friday every year. I get up early, make a coffee to go, tell the family to be good, and hit the shops looking for a steal. And well, last year, a steal is what I got.

Black Friday shopping

Black Friday 2014 was no different to any other year.

The crowds were big and mad, as were the store savings.

Before I go on, there’s something you should know about my shopping self. You see, I use Black Friday to start buying my Christmas presents. I’m not one of those manic shoppers, running around like a headless chicken looking for a deal or a fight in the bargain bins. I have a list of presents to buy and I work through it methodically and frenzy-free.

With this in mind, I was surprised to find that when I went to make my second purchase of the day, I couldn’t for the life of me find my purse in my bag. I couldn’t believe it.

The bargain hunter had been hunted!

And when I turned to the cashier for a sympathetic look – there wasn’t one. She gave me a look I’ll never forget. And I know I’m not naïve to the world – I’ve travelled the globe and been in some pretty sticky situations. But today, with the checkout girl judging me through those heavily eye-lined sockets of hers, I couldn’t have felt more stupid.

This year I have a secret weapon.

But you know what? This Black Friday, no one’s going to take my wallet or give me that look. Oh no. I’ve got the Christmas list sorted, the kids are organized on play dates, the husband has a to-do list as long as my arm, and I am going shopping with a secret weapon: my new Safedome card.

What is Safedome?

This mighty little card arrived in my letterbox yesterday, an early Christmas present from my tech-loving hubby. And without instruction from him, I downloaded the app, synced the Safedome card to my phone and slipped it in with my bank cards.

How it works.

So now, armed with Safedome, if anyone tries the same routine as last year, they’ll have me or the Safedome team on their tail. Try and get in my handbag and my phone will alert me in moments so I’m able to take action straight away. And if my wallet does go missing, the Safedome support team is a phone call away and will organize everything with the banks.

Hello Black Friday bandits, meet my shopping wingman.
