What’s got Texas Instruments excited about Safedome
Posted on November 13 2015
We’ve come a long way since our two founders first dreamed up Safedome back in 2011. It’s evolved into an intuitive, easy-to-use product that knows if you’ve misplaced your wallet, helps you find it, and then helps you fix any issues.
And we couldn’t have done it without our technology partner, Texas Instruments (TI).
TI helped make Safedome a reality by working with us to provide a wafer-thin chip, thin enough to fit into the form of a credit card. This was no easy feat.
Safedome is the first product of its kind to securely connect a credit-card sized hardware device with a smartphone. The TI chip (a TI Bluetooth®Smart solution) drives the Bluetooth functionality. It’s the power behind the card.
And it seems the TI team is just as excited about Safedome as we are. Here are a couple of reasons why.
The Safedome concept
“The concept and technology really excite me,” said an enthusiastic Will Jarrett from TI. “I’m using Safedome today - I just set it up and forget about it. That is until I leave my wallet somewhere. Great product, great peace of mind.”
The Safedome battery
The Safedome card also requires two incredibly thin custom lithium-ion batteries that can last for a year without being charged.
“I’m incredibly impressed by the battery life,” said Will. “Batteries that are so thin, yet last a whole year. That is simply amazing! Who would have imagined this would be possible even just a few years ago?”
